Affordable Spay/Neuter & Vaccination Services

At the Humane Society of Polk County, our no-kill vision includes reducing the number of unwanted pets being born, which helps decrease the number of animals entering local shelters. We are proud to offer affordable spay/neuter services and low-cost vaccination clinics to make it easier and more affordable for Polk County pet owners.

Surgery Pricing

Our surgery prices include an exam, anesthesia, anesthesia maintenance, monitoring, and a 24-hour pain injection.

Cat Neuters (males): $95
Cat Spays (females): $105

Dog Spay and Neuter Pricing:

  • 2 – 20 Pounds: $145
  • 21 – 49 Pounds: $235
  • 50 – 79 Pounds: $285
  • 80 – 100 Pounds: $315

Dental Pricing

Base Fee: $650
Includes:

  • Pre-surgical exam
  • Anesthesia maintenance and monitoring
  • IV catheter and IV fluids
  • Basic pre-anesthetic blood work (required to be completed 3 days prior to the dental cleaning). The blood work fee is $75, paid at the time of service.

Extractions: $10 – $40 per tooth

Dental pricing may vary based on the severity of your pet’s dental condition. Currently, we are only able to provide basic dental care. If your pet requires oral surgery, we are unable to accommodate that need at this time.

 

Post-Surgery Go-Home Medications

  • Pain Medication for Dogs: $15-$35 (all dogs will go home with a minimum of 3 days of pain medication)
  • Pain Medication for Cats:  $15 (available upon request)

  • E-Collars: $15 – $25
  • Phovia Light Therapy: $18

  • Rabies Vaccine: $20
  • DA2PP/FVRCP Vaccine: $20

Appointment Information

Once you’ve completed your request and paid the required deposit, you will receive an email confirmation once your appointment is approved. Appointments requested within 24 hours may not be approved. If you don’t receive a confirmation email, please contact us at SNIP@Humanesocietyofpolkcounty.org.

Health Requirements

The Humane Society reserves the right to refuse services for any animal deemed unfit for surgery due to poor health.

Pre-Op Blood Work

We strongly recommend pre-surgical blood work for all surgical patients. It is mandatory for pets aged 7 years and older. Blood work can be performed for $75. Appointments can be scheduled online, and after reviewing the results, we will schedule surgery. You may submit blood work from another source if it was done within 6 months of the surgery.

Breed Restrictions: Some larger dog breeds are considered senior at age 5 (e.g., Great Danes, Mastiffs, Wolfhounds), and restrictions may apply. Brachycephalic breeds (e.g., French Bulldogs, English Bulldogs, Pugs) may require additional anesthetic medications, based on weight.

Fasting & Flea Treatment

  • No food after midnight on the night before surgery.
  • If your pet has fleas, an additional charge of $10 will apply for flea treatment.

Rabies Vaccination

If your pet has a current rabies vaccine, please bring the signed rabies certificate with the vaccine type and lot number. If you don’t have the certificate or if your pet isn’t vaccinated, your pet will receive the rabies vaccine at an additional charge.

Female Pets in Heat or Pregnant

Additional charges may apply ($25 – $50) if your pet is pregnant and requires extra medication, fluids, or anesthesia. There is no additional charge for pets in heat.

Microchips

Microchips are available for $25, which includes lifetime registration.

Surgery Drop-Off & Pick-Up Times

  • Dogs: Drop-off at 8:00 am | Pick-up at 4:00 pm
  • Cats: Drop-off at 8:30 am | Pick-up at 4:30 pm

Late Pick-Up Fees

Late pick-ups will incur a $25 charge for each 15-minute interval after 5 pm.

Requirements

  • Cats: Must be in an individual carrier or trap with your pet’s name clearly marked.
  • Dogs: Must be on a non-retractable leash at drop-off.

Dental Appointments

All dental appointments require blood work to be completed at least 3 business days before the appointment.

  • Arrival Time: Between 8 am – 8:30 am
  • Pick-Up Time: Dogs at 4:00 pm, Cats at 4:30 pm

Wellness & Bloodwork Appointments

  • Location: Park in the main parking lot and enter through the SNIP door on the south side of the building.

Saturday Shot Clinic/Wellness Appointments

Arrive at your scheduled time. If you arrive before or after your scheduled time, you will be worked in as a walk-in appointment. Location for Saturday clinics may vary, please follow us on Facebook and Instagram for location information.

Other Important Information

  • Cats must be in a carrier, and dogs must be on a non-retractable leash.
  • All animals must have a current rabies vaccine. If they are not current, a vaccine will be given during the appointment.
  • Current rabies certificate is required as proof of vaccination.
