Post Adoption Behavior Support

The Humane Society of Polk County has a training series called Wag U. This series is led by our Animal Behaviorist, Diann Andress. From Basic Manners to tricks, there’s a class for you! Humane Society of Polk County adopters can register now for a discount!

For those who have adopted from the Humane Society of Polk County, our Animal Behaviorist is available to answer any questions you may have with a free phone consultation. And don’t forget to check out our Behavior Resource library below for help solving common behavior issues.

Education

Paws to Read

Our therapy dog teams are available to visit local Elementary Schools upon request. Where children have the opportunity to read a story to the dogs and overcome any fears they may have about reading aloud.  Owner/Handlers accompany the dogs and are there to assist with any words the children might need help with.  All of our dogs are certified through Alliance of Therapy Dogs.

Education Programs

Available upon request to all Polk County schools. Educating the public, both children and adults, on the importance of spaying/neutering pets is one of our most important endeavors.
