This is an incredibly difficult decision for us, but we want to do what is truly in her best interest.
Roxie is a four-year-old dog who is extremely sweet, playful, energetic, and loving. She absolutely adores attention and being around people. She has a gentle heart and forms strong bonds with her humans. When she is with someone who can give her time and affection, she is a very happy girl.
Earlier this year, Roxie began experiencing seizures. She had two at the beginning of the year and one more recently. We took her to the veterinarian, where bloodwork was done, and she was found to be healthy internally. The vet believes her seizures are likely anxiety-related. Roxie has always struggled with separation anxiety, especially when we leave the house. She does best with consistent companionship and reassurance.
She has been prescribed medication to help manage her anxiety so it does not trigger seizures, and with proper care, attention, and stability, she does well. Aside from this condition, she is healthy and full of life.
Unfortunately, my boyfriend and I both work full-time, and he currently works two jobs, we just moved into our new home and as much as we love Roxie, we are unable to give her the level of attention and consistency she needs to stay emotionally and physically healthy. We feel that continuing in this situation would not be fair to her, and we are seeing it impact her well-being.
Our only goal is to ensure Roxie has the chance to live a happy, stable life with someone who can give her the time, care, and attention she deserves. This decision comes from love and concern for her quality of life.
